Hello, Bloom & Barn friends! Kelley here, taking a quiet moment to reflect on the simple joys that fill my days. Sometimes, it’s not the busy market or the latest freeze-dried creation that brings the most profound sense of peace, but a quiet, familiar sight. Today, that sight is my empty collecting chair and the trusty egg basket, waiting patiently.
You see, that chair isn't just a piece of furniture, and that basket isn't just for eggs. They represent a ritual, a connection, and a daily dose of gratitude. Every morning (or sometimes multiple times a day!), I grab that basket, head out to the coop, and settle into that chair. It’s where I watch our happy hens clucking, foraging, and sometimes, arguing playfully. It's where I collect the day's fresh, colorful treasures, still warm from the nest.
When I see that chair empty, with the basket beside it, it's a silent invitation. An invitation to pause, to breathe, and to reflect on the abundance around me. It's a reminder of:
- The incredible bounty of nature: Each egg is a miracle, a perfect little package of life and nourishment.
- The health and happiness of our flock: Those beautiful shells and rich yolks are a direct result of our hens living their best lives.
- The quiet moments of farm life: Away from the hustle, these are the precious minutes that ground me and fill my cup.
- The community we're building: Every egg collected will eventually bring joy and flavor to someone's table, connecting us all.
So, this isn't just an empty chair and a basket; it’s a symbol of gratitude for the journey, the growth, and the simple, profound magic that happens every single day here at Kelley’s Bloom & Barn. It’s a silent promise to continue nurturing this land and these animals with all my heart.
What simple things bring you a sense of gratitude in your daily life? I'd love to hear about them.
Warmly,
Kelley Chief Chicken Wrangler & Grateful Farmer Kelley's Bloom & Barn
